High quality aerial photography is the very foundation of success for Optimal Geomatic
and our clients. When beginning with a superior photographic product, all photogrammetric
and GIS services became exceptional. From
any altitude between 500 feet and 25,000 feet and for any map scale, Optimal Geomatic employs
state-of-the-art LH Systems RC-30
aerial cameras with Forward Motion Compensation which are suitable to expose all types of
film. These cameras capture the most precise and distortion-free image possible. A fleet
of four (4) aircraft specially equipped for high and low altitude aerial photography
missions are stationed strategically to provide fast and reliable services from the
Pacific coast to the Atlantic seaboard. A digital flight plan is downloaded to
sophisticated navigation instruments to guide the airplane over the project area and
activate the camera at precise locations. Forward gain and side lap is software controlled
and optimized for stereoscopic coverage. All photography is precisely geo-referenced with
GPS and inertial measurement technologies.
To minimize error, Optimal Geomatic uses seasoned flight crews with years
of aerial photography experience. Strict attention to both flight variables and mapping
control requirements go into the extensive flight planning to assure accurate photography
and, therefore, accurate final mapping results.
In fact, MD Atlantics Airborne GPS-based planning and management software guides every step of data collection and production, from the operation of the aircraft and activation of cameras to the quality control of the imagery. The use of GPS throughout an operation means we deliver consistently accurate and timely products to our clients on large and small projects alike.
